Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago?
I will be visiting Chicago for a day and I like going to an art museum. But I do not know much about either. I'll be up there in May. As for my preferences in art, I like everything. I love traditional art and contemporary art (Plus most of my third grader could make modern art). I go to the school of architecture and art history major in so I would like get the most out of this trip could. Museum What would you recommend? The Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art? Thanks!
If I could choose I'd go for the Art Institute, not because of any dislike of modern art, but because the Institute has some major work to be considered (for "Seurat's La Grande Jatte," De Kooning "Excavation", some well Degas, etc) plus a huge collection of other things of all times. It is also a large building.
